I&I on BBC London Sunday 6 March

Who was the most talented of the original Wailers? Peter, Bunny or Bob? Who was the most spiritual? Did smoking copious amounts of marijuana impair or enhance their creativity? Phone in to BBC London on Sunday 6 March at about 9.20pm and join the discussion with me and Dotun Adebayo

I&I thanks Brixton Library

Thanks to Tim O'Dell and the team at Brixton Library for putting on such a richly rewarding and professional event last night. Esther Anderson and I had a blast. This was a perfect model for all public book readings. Lambeth Council please take note, this library is a treasure and must stay open.

Peace and Love,

Colin

Reggae Stars Rise Up in BBC's Reggae Britannia

Reggae Britannia made a spirited attempt to position home-grown British Reggae in the history of pop music on BBC 4 last night. Good to see Pauline Black looking vibrant, and Linton Kwesi Johnson still with a burning flame in his eyes. Might have been interesting to riff on the idea of 'authentic' Reggae, and acts that made you cringe.... Hats off to BBC 4.

I&I at Brixton Library 16 Feb

At Brixton Library on Wednesday 16 Feb for a talk on I&I: The Natural Mystics, and a special screening of an extract from Esther Anderson and Gian Godoy's alluring documentary on Bob Marley. Some of the images captured by Esther have a poignant "home footage" feel to them. Bob's famous screwface countenance gives way to an unguarded, playful abandonment.

Where Have All the Rastas Gone?

Where Have All the Rastas Gone? Did it ever cross your mind? Take a peek at the latest editon of 'The Word' magazine and you'll find some answers in a feature I've written. It also includes a fascinating exploration of the role of John and Alan Lomax in early recordings of the Blues deep down in the Delta.

The Observer takes notice of I&I today. Lovely colour photo of the guys as teenagers.

A biography of the original Wailers – Bob Marley, Peter Tosh and Bunny Livingston – expertly charts the trio's impoverished beginnings and struggle for recognition, writes Neil Spencer
